I’m Dr. Peyman Tashkandi, a psychiatrist who views this work as far more than a profession—it’s a calling that stems from genuine fascination with how the human mind works and heals. What drives my practice is the dynamic interplay between neuroscience discoveries, psychological understanding, and the social forces that shape each person’s experience.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work with people from remarkably diverse backgrounds, from those facing the hardest circumstances to individuals with every advantage life can offer. These experiences have taught me something fundamental: emotional pain touches everyone, regardless of their circumstances. Real healing happens when we see the whole person, not just their presenting concerns.
Whether I’m sitting with a teenager struggling with identity questions, an adult working through past trauma, or a successful professional dealing with overwhelming stress, my commitment remains the same—to approach each person with genuine curiosity, empathy, and respect for their unique story.

My practice operates from a core belief: you can’t understand someone’s mind without understanding them as a complete person living in their particular world. This means considering not just symptoms, but the full context of someone’s life, relationships, and circumstances.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults, offering a range of services including psychotherapy, medication management, and integrative approaches that draw from multiple therapeutic traditions. The treatment is always tailored to the individual—because what works for one person may not work for another.
I believe that to truly understand what’s going on in your mind, we need to understand you as a whole person, living in your unique world.
That means we won’t just focus on symptoms, but on your entire life, your relationships, your circumstances, and everything that makes you, you.
It’s all connected, and it all matters
Whether you’re a child, adolescent, or adult, I’m here to offer a variety of ways to help.
This includes talk therapy, medication management, and integrated approaches that bring together different therapeutic ideas. The most important thing is that your treatment will always be just for you. What works wonders for one person might not be right for another, so we’ll work together to find the path that truly fits you best.
For me, it’s all about seeing the big picture for my patients across Los Angeles County.
When we understand your unique life journey, from the Hollywood Hills to the beaches of Santa Monica, that’s when we can truly help your mind find its balance and thrive in our vibrant community.
I am honored to partner with you on your path to healing and mental wellness.
